A mother from Australia experienced what was probably one of the worst shocks of her life after feeling something crawling around in her underwear only to find a spider’s nest inside. The traumatized woman took to TikTok to share the horrific story with others.
“I have to tell you guys the most heebie-jeebie, disgusting, scary thing that happened to me,” Emily Newton states at the start of her video. She goes on to explain that she had hung her washing out to dry and brought it in the day before. She then got dressed to go out for a walk as one often does, putting on the fresh underwear which had been hanging on the line the day before. This was when things took a turn for the worst.
As she was getting ready Emily noticed that something was wrong, “I was like, something just doesn’t feel right.” She decided to go to the toilet and it was then that she noticed an odd looking stain on the crotch part of her underwear. At first she thought it was bird poo which is understandable as it had been hanging outside all day, however, upon closer inspection Emily realized the yucky truth.
“Upon closer inspection, it starts moving,” Emily explains, looking physically repulsed as she recalls what she saw, “It’s a spider, and it’s in a pouch full of eggs.”
Time to burn all the laundry
Finding spiders where their not supposed to be is never a pleasant experience but Emily’s story is enough to make your skin crawl just listening to it, now imagine living through it. To top it all off she’s in Australia, they have all kinds of venomous arachnids such as the Funnel Web or Wolf spiders. Luckily for Emily it seems whatever species the spider was, it didn’t bite her in self-defense, not that that likely brings her much comfort.
Emily’s response to seeing the nest in her underwear was about the same as any human, “I screamed, jumped up off of the toilet, pegged my jocks down the hallway and then sprinted into the shower.” Her response is perfectly valid, maybe even a little bit of an under-reaction, me personally, I would have probably just died on the spot.
Commenters on TikTok were of the same mindset, “I fear I would never recover from this” wrote one person, “this is like my worse fear. I thought I was just being paranoid,” added another. Others vowed to stick to using their dryer as opposed to hanging their washing outside in future. Whatever the case, it seems the lesson today is to always thoroughly check your washing before putting it on.
