‘Someone stage an intervention’: Trump confuses Ukraine and Iran, says US successfully destroying Ukrainian navy

No biggie, just him confusing a crucial ally with a mortal enemy.

Donald Trump is the most powerful man in the world, with the power of life and death over all of us. Unfortunately, he is also visibly losing his grip on reality, and his brain and body are deteriorating by the day.

This shouldn’t come as a shock. Trump is fast approaching his 80th birthday, has one of the highest-pressure jobs on the planet, is visibly suffering from multiple health conditions, proudly leads an unhealthy life, and is surrounded by yes-men with a vested interest in keeping him in power no matter what the true state of his health is.

But even knowing all that, it’s quite something for him to get Iran and Ukraine mixed up.

“I think Ukraine, militarily, they’re defeated”

Yesterday, during Trump’s intensely awkward Oval Office meeting with the Artemis II crew (during which he confidently asserted he’s got what it takes to be an astronaut), the president touched on national security, proceeding to get one of America’s most high-profile allies confused with its most high-profile enemy:

“I think Ukraine, militarily, they’re defeated. Militarily. You wouldn’t know that by reading the fake news. But, militarily [incoherent]. Navy. So they had 159 ships. Every ship is right now underwater. Typically that’s pretty good. What do you think. It’s going to be pretty hard for them to make a naval comeback okay.”

If this were any other president, this would be the gaffe of the year. Just imagine if Joe Biden had mumbled through the same pronouncement, Fox News would be crowing for weeks about how he can’t get America’s allies and enemies straight.

But, as this is Trump, his very public and very embarrassing confusion is just par for the course. That doesn’t make it any less worrying, as the comments pointed out:

Some even say it’s “cruel” to put a visibly ailing elderly man through this, and that there must be an intervention:

Sadly, we’re stuck with Trump until the microsecond he becomes so unpopular it’s politically viable for his allies to dispose of him. At that point, the proverbial knives come out, the 25th Amendment is invoked, and Trump is removed from office due to his “inability to discharge the presidency’s powers and duties”.

Make no mistake, JD Vance will already be making quiet moves behind the scenes to test the waters on if and when this could happen. Fortunately, we can be equally certain that Trump won’t be forced out of office quietly and, even in a confused senile state, he’s more than able to burn the White House down around him on the way out. Possibly literally!
