Paranoid Kash Patel in ‘panic mode to save his job’, frantically trying to identify FBI traitors with lie detector tests

I'd be paranoid I was going to be fired too if I were him.

Kash Patel feels like the walls are closing in on him. Every person he meets could be a potential traitor, waiting to stab him in the back and betray his closest secrets to the world.

Patel’s paranoia is linked to the recent eyebrow-raising reports from FBI insiders, which paint him as a drunken, incompetent mess obsessed with proving his own masculinity and terrified that Trump is going to fire him.

To be fair, he’s probably right to be paranoid that Trump is going to fire him, given how little he’s achieved in office, his embarrassing gaffes in key investigations, and with the videos of him sinking beers and screaming at the Winter Olympics particularly displeasing the teetotal president.

Now, as per a new report from MS Now, Patel is officially in “panic mode to save his job” and has launched a campaign to root out the traitorous leakers in his midst. Given that Patel is the head of one of the most respected investigative agencies in the world, you’d think that he’d be able to crack this case fairly easily.

Apparently not, as the report also confirms that Patel is deploying polygraphs to sniff out the leakers. Patel is said to be subjecting his security detail and IT staff to the so-called ‘lie detector’, hoping he’ll be able to deduce which of them is a snake in the grass and who’s been talking to the press.

It should be underlined that the simple fact that this information has been leaked to the press is a strong indication that whoever’s responsible isn’t particularly concerned they’re going to get rumbled anytime soon.

Trust No One

Polygraphs are also probably the most useless way to find liars within the FBI, as anyone working there will know that lie detectors are junk science and don’t work. Their effectiveness largely hinges on unknowing suspects assuming they’re legitimate and cracking under the pressure.

The simple act of hooking someone up to a machine they’ll have seen a thousand times in movies and TV shows is intimidating. As thinking goes, if you’ve been fooled into believing that the polygraph can detect lies, you’ll be more inclined to tell the truth.

So, if you’re interrogating a suspect and you want to turn the heat up on them, wheel in the polygraph machine, ask some pointed questions, and then confront them with the “results” (which can mean whatever you want them to mean). It only “works” because most criminals are kinda dumb and believe in them.

On top of all that, subjecting your own staff to hostile interrogation doesn’t seem like a great way of fostering trust and communication within a law enforcement agency. All of which adds up to a picture of Patel spiralling into paranoia and deciding he can’t trust anyone, which also means he’s unlikely to be quitting the sauce anytime soon.

However, we can only hope Patel isn’t fired. He was supposed to be using the FBI to harass Trump’s political enemies, so we’re reassured that he instead spends much of his time in a drunken stupor where he’s not causing anybody any trouble (except possibly hotel staff).

So, all we can say is “party on”. May the booze keep flowing for Kash, and may he keep jumping at every shadow!
