Kentucky woman spots a big red button in gas station bathroom: ‘Do NOT push this’

What would you do?

A big red button in a gas station bathroom surprised a woman in Northern Kentucky, and when she pushed it, let’s say she wasn’t expecting a dance party.

In a viral TikTok video, creator Abby (@abby408893) documented the unusual bathroom setup while visiting a HOP Shops convenience store in Florence, a city located just south of Cincinnati along the Interstate 75 corridor. The area is known for heavy traffic, with gas stations and convenience stores serving commuters and road-trippers passing through.

“I’m in a bathroom in a gas station, and I gotta show you something,” Abby said at the start of the clip. And as she filmed the restroom interior, she pointed out several odd features mounted near the ceiling.

“First, I seen like these. I was like, What are those? Are those cameras?” she said before noticing decorative disco balls hanging overhead.

Then came the reveal

She goes on, “And then I seen the disco balls, and then I looked. Look. Look at this. Are you ready? Are you ready?” Abby said while approaching a large red button mounted on the wall with a warning label that read: “Do NOT push this button.” Naturally, she pushed it.

The bathroom immediately transformed into a miniature nightclub. The overhead lights dimmed, the disco balls began spinning, and the 1980 hit “Celebration” by Kool & the Gang blasted through the speakers.

The unexpected scene quickly drew attention online, with viewers joking that the gas station restroom sounded more entertaining than some actual bars and clubs.

One commenter wrote, “We gonna have a potty tonight 🤣🤣🤣.” Another joked about the surprise awaiting unsuspecting customers: “Imagine being on the toilet not knowing about the button and someone comes in and presses the button 😂.”

HOP Shops operates several locations across Kentucky and neighboring states, and some of its stores have become known on social media for quirky restroom features and unexpectedly upscale interiors.

Most importantly, the gas station kept it clean

The viral video also sparked conversation about restroom cleanliness, something Abby said stood out immediately during her visit. “It was the most spotless bathroom I had ever seen too,” she added in the comments.

Clean, well-maintained convenience store bathrooms have become an increasingly competitive point for gas station chains trying to attract travelers. Companies like Buc-ee’s and Wawa have built strong reputations around large, clean restrooms and unique in-store experiences, helping turn what was once considered a routine roadside stop into a destination itself.

Social media has only amplified that trend, with TikTok users frequently sharing reviews of unusual or unexpectedly luxurious gas station bathrooms across the United States.

Still, few restroom experiences appear to rival a surprise disco party triggered by a forbidden button. But for many commenters, though, the biggest surprise was not the music or the disco balls, but finding a gas station bathroom clean enough to impress the internet.
