Tucker Carlson says Donald Trump has diminished American power in ways even his former allies call ‘unimaginable’

The feud continues.

Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host and podcaster, has sharply criticized President Donald Trump, accusing him of diminishing American power at an “unimaginable” rate. This marks a notable shift from Carlson’s earlier support for the president, which he had held onto for a long time despite growing concerns.

On a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson went after Trump’s leadership directly. His comments came after Trump boasted about having a 99% approval rating in Israel. Carlson pointed out that Trump’s approval rating in the United States currently sits at just 35%, calling out the gap between what Trump says and what the numbers show.

According to Mediaite, Carlson described Trump’s actions as “cold-hearted globalist betrayals,” accusing the president of caring more about the approval of foreign leaders than the needs of Americans. The White House responded by calling Carlson a “low-IQ person who spreads fake news for cheap publicity,” but Carlson’s words have clearly landed with many people who share his concerns.

Carlson blames Netanyahu for goading Trump into the Iran war, with oil prices now rising

One of the biggest issues Carlson has raised is Trump’s war with Iran. In an interview with an Israeli news program, Carlson accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of “goading” Trump into the conflict. He has repeatedly called for a diplomatic solution and argued that the war was not in America’s interest.

The war with Iran has had real consequences for ordinary Americans. According to Carlson, the conflict has sent oil and gas prices skyrocketing, which has added to the inflation already caused by Trump’s tariffs. This is not the only financial controversy surrounding Trump, as his administration has also faced backlash over a $1.8 billion fund set up for January 6 rioters that prompted his own Treasury lawyer to resign.

Carlson has a long history of supporting Trump, which makes his recent criticism all the more significant. He has not simply disagreed on small policy matters – he has openly accused the president of making decisions that have hurt American power and standing in the world. This level of public pushback from a former ally is hard to ignore.

The criticism Carlson is making is not just about Iran or approval ratings. He has pointed to a broader pattern where he believes Trump’s choices have weakened the United States over the past year in ways that even some of Trump’s own former supporters describe as “unimaginable.” Carlson is not the only one pushing back, as Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly threatening Trump with a revolution signals that cracks within MAGA are growing wider.

While Carlson has been critical of Trump before, his tone has grown noticeably harsher in recent months. He is no longer softening his language or leaving room for the benefit of the doubt. His comments now read as a direct rejection of the direction Trump has taken the country, particularly on foreign policy and the ongoing war with Iran.
