The woman was unsure whether or not to open the bag after the bizarre encounter.

TikToker Tera Kaminski explained what happened as she sat in her car after the strange encounter. “A woman just stopped me in the Target parking lot,” she says, claiming that she initially thought that the woman was just making polite conversation. The stranger asked her if she was having a boy or girl and when Tera told her it was a girl she “reached into her bag,” and gave Tera a ziplocked bag containing what appears to be an assortment of items.

Tera decided to record her reaction as she opened the mysterious bag, although she was hesitant to do so asking herself, “Why am I kind of scared to open it?” At first she opens up a note which she admits makes her want to cry. The note contained what appears to be a handwritten quote from the Bible which Tera reads aloud. The bag also contained a little baby towel with pink colors.

Wholesome or weird?

While the woman thought her interaction and the gifts were quite wholesome, claiming that the thoughtful gesture from the stranger made her day. However, plenty of people on TikTok seem to disagree, “That is sooo dodgy like what? And whyy?” wrote one person.

Another commenter added, “I would have just been scared to open that.” Admittedly, it is a bit odd that someone would approach pregnant strangers in Target to give them gifts, you can never be too cautious of stranger in Target. A third person insinuated that the gift could have been dangerous in some way, “As much as I would want to trust it and hope she means well… it’s 2026”

Nonetheless, a kind gesture is a kind gesture and not every good deed comes with a price, some people are just nice. One commenter relayed a story of their pregnant friend who was on a plane and the “woman next to her knitted a hat for [the] baby during flight and gave it to her when they landed.”

While people may be justified in being paranoid it doesn’t mean that every encounter with a stranger is a bad one and Tera’s case is a perfect example of that, it seems the woman was well intentioned after all. Of course, it is still important to exercise caution when it comes to dealing with strangers.
