Charli D’Amelio says her ‘mental health keeps declining’ as dad claims she’s ‘being manipulated’ and says he has ‘the receipts’

Social media personality, dancer, and once the most followed person on TikTok Charli D’Amelio has given fans an update on her mental health as she turns 22, and struck a sad note when it came to discussing her relationship with parents.

In a YouTube AMA conducted while hiking on July 4, D’Amelio told her fans, “My mental health keeps declining. The age keeps going up, but the number of therapy sessions keeps going up too.”

The AMA came after a four-month break from YouTube, which coincided with widespread reports that she’d become estranged from her parents, Heidi and Marc D’Amelio. Fans noted that Charli and her parents no longer follow each other on Instagram, that she no longer posted about the family popcorn company, and reports emerged via PEOPLE that Charli is no longer involved in that business.

Charli wouldn’t go into details of what’s going on behind the scenes, except to confirm that it’s a “sensitive” matter: “I would love to be able to really explain what was going on over those few months, but that means dedicated time because it was very sensitive.”

However, she insists that one day she will speak her truth: “It’s something that I would love to be able to talk about and help other people through because I know it’s not just me that had a hard winter.”

“We love Charli but she is being manipulated”

Her father Marc has a somewhat different take. In late May Deuxmoi reported rumors that Charli had “discovered millions of dollars had been transferred out of accounts that were established during the years her career was managed by her parents.” This money was allegedly supposed to be her savings, and the dispute “is now reportedly in the hands of attorneys.”

In response, her father alleged that Charli is being “manipulated” by person or persons unknown, saying reports of a family dispute are “not true” and that:

“We love Charli but she is being manipulated and I have the receipts. Over the last six years, we have remained silent and never addressed gossip but the time has come to set the record straight.”

Right now, we simply can’t say for certain what’s going on, but with both Charli and her father promising that someday soon all will be revealed, we can only wait and see.
