NYC woman tries Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks, finds something in her meal. Staff allegedly call her a liar and say it doesn’t matter: ‘told me to post’

She didn’t want to make a scene

A New York City content creator says she found hair in her food at Danny & Coop’s, a sandwich shop she had been excited to try. According to the creator, identified as Teressa (@teressab_), the restaurant had been on her list of places to eat in New York, and she said “everything looked amazing” when her food arrived.

Teressa said the trouble started only after she noticed hair in her meal. She shared her account in a TikTok video that has received over 3,900 likes.

In the video, Teressa said she did not want to make a scene. “So there was a lot of people in the store, so I went to the guy that was working the register and I whispered it to him because I’m not trying to tear anyone down,” she said.

Staff member accused the customer of lying before the confrontation escalated

Teressa said the employee at the register then called two other staff members from the back of the store. She said she expected them to apologize. “I’m thinking they’re the manager, they’re going to be apologetic about this situation, but nope,” she said. Instead, she said one of the men told her she was lying about finding hair in her food.

I don’t usually post negative experiences, but this one caught me off guard. Finding a hair in my food was disappointing, but the way it was handled was even more surprising. What would you have done in my situation? 👇 #dannyandcooperscheesesteaks #nycfood #newyork #foodtiktok #fypシ

Teressa said the employee’s tone changed once he realized her claim was true. She quoted him saying, “So let me guess what you want to do, you gonna post this video about your hair for us to go viral and then we go out of business?”

Teressa said she responded by clarifying her intentions. “I said, no, you don’t even need to come strong like that. I’m literally coming to get my refund because once I find hair in my food, I’m not eating at your place,” she said.

According to Teressa, the employee then pointed to the restaurant’s sales figures. She said he told her they sell 60,000 sandwiches a week, and that “whatever happens, it don’t even matter anyways.”

Teressa ended her video by referencing that comment directly. She said, “So since it don’t matter and he told me to post about it, that’s,” leaving the sentence unfinished as the video cut off. Customer service disputes escalated before too, as seen when a woman found something alive in her Little Caesars pizza.

The video includes footage of the sandwich in question, a cheesesteak cut in half and served on a sesame seed bun with a side of pickled vegetables, along with shots of the restaurant’s interior and the employee she identified as working the register.

Teressa’s video drew a number of comments from viewers reacting to how the situation was handled. One commenter wrote, “Why can’t restaurants just apologize and remake the food?? Whats with this new age of disrespect to the people that buy your food and support local business?”

Another commenter said, “Yeah i will no longer eat from them again i hate rude customer service.” A third viewer wrote, “who you hire to represent your company at the register or greeter can really hurt your business.” A fourth commenter added, “The professionalism sucks these days.”

Danny & Coop’s has not publicly responded to Teressa’s video or the claims made in it. Allegations of foreign objects in food are not unique to this incident, as a woman at Zaxby’s claimed she found something inside her chicken
