A woman who filmed herself berating a Mexican window cleaner and demanding he leave her porch has allegedly been kicked out of her apartment by building management after the altercation went viral. The clip has since gone viral on TikTok.
The video was initially shared to Instagram by the woman later identified as Betsy Rosen, although her Instagram account appears to have since been deleted. However, the video was soon reposted across the internet, with one video receiving over 20 million views.
“I’m gonna politely ask you to leave my porch,” the woman can be heard saying as she opens the door. The man appears to try and explain himself but viewers wondered if his limited English stopped him from doing so effectively. As he moves away from the window, the woman repeats herself in a more aggressive tone, “leave my porch right f—ing now.”
The man calmly moves the chairs on the porch while apologizing to the woman. He then promptly leaves the property.
From the start, people did not take Rosen’s side. Comments on TikTok called her out and labeled her a “Karen.” Most questioned why the woman had been so rude to the worker: “Why was she so awful to this man just trying to do his job[?]” asked one person. “The way his face fell. Just a hardworking man doing his job.” Another added.
Others claimed that it “sounded like she was scared” about the man on the porch, which may have explained why she reacted the way she did. After all, it’s wise to be cautious with unfamiliar people around your home.
Rosen was allegedly kicked out
Regardless, the video received a wave of negative attention. Most agreed that Rosen’s reaction went too far for someone who was just doing their job. Her video reportedly brought some rather unintended consequences for Rosen.
According to numerous sources online, Rosen was told to leave her apartment by the property manager following the incident. On Threads, one person provided an update, claiming that management had ended up terminating Rosen’s lease. Another video on TikTok made a similar statement, although these claims have not been verified.
It was also stated that Rosen had received plenty of notices warning her that the property managers had workers cleaning every apartment’s windows, which led people to believe that her aggressive attitude towards the worker was more intentional than it seemed. Others also claimed that she had lost her job but, once again, these claims have not been verified.
A few concerned netizens wondered how the window cleaner was doing. After the incident, the cleaner took to the internet to share a brief video where he warned people about a fake GoFundMe set up in his name.
