Ryanair’s reputation among frequent fliers is pretty much set in stone. Whether you love it or hate it, the golden rule of low-cost carriers is simple: you get what you pay for. That hasn’t stopped people from debating the airline every time another onboard experience goes viral. This time, a woman posted a video from her flight to Ibiza that she said left her “speechless.”

The reel captured a cabin that had seemingly abandoned all decorum. Passengers were pouring shots in the open, dancing in the aisles, singing, and shouting. It looked less like a commercial flight and more like an airborne festival.

Usually, passengers are expected to spend flights quietly reading, watching a movie, or catching up on sleep. But this journey was anything but typical. The footage, which has amassed more than 200,000 views, shows the usual hum of jet engines drowned out by synchronized chanting, cheering, and music blasting from multiple mobile phones. Passengers appeared to ignore the seatbelt signs, turning the aisle into an impromptu dance floor as they toasted to a vacation that seemed to have started before the plane had even landed.

Ryanair issued a formal statement

Adding to the atmosphere, clouds of vapor drifted through the cabin as some travelers openly ignored the airline’s anti-vaping rules. The woman filming laughed and asked, “Why didn’t anybody warn me about Ryanair?” before adding, “This is the loudest flight I’ve ever been on.”

Eventually, she gave in to the atmosphere herself, laughing and dancing alongside the other passengers.

Not everyone, however, found the scene entertaining. One user wrote, “Please don’t do that, you can’t imagine how stressful for the crew is and imagine for the rest of the passengers including elderlies and families having to deal with drunk, loud people… Stop it please, a plane is not a pub, it is a means of transport.”

Another simply commented, “The Spirit Airlines of the UK.”

Some viewers argued the destination—not the airline—was the real reason for the behavior. One wrote, “I didn’t even read the caption and I knew immediately it was to Ibiza. It’s not about Ryanair, it’s about the destination.”

Another disagreed, writing, “I flew a flight like this to Morocco and it was wild. There was so much orange tanner and fake hair I was amazed. The seats were shaking.”

This time, Ryanair didn’t respond with its usual tongue-in-cheek social media humor. Instead, the airline issued a formal statement:

“Crew on this flight from Dublin to Ibiza called ahead for police assistance after two passengers became disruptive inflight. Due to their misbehaviour, crew refrained from serving these passengers alcohol from the bar. However, despite several warnings from crew, they continued to drink their own alcohol purchased pre-flight. Police met the aircraft upon landing at Ibiza Airport and these two disruptive passengers were removed.”

This goes beyond the golden rule

Ryanair added that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward disruptive passenger behavior and said it remains committed to providing passengers with a “stress-free environment” while onboard.

Ultimately, the viral clip goes beyond the golden rule of low-cost carriers. Laws should be followed, regardless of how much a flight costs.
