A woman was recently caught in the act of relieving herself in broad daylight right beside her car. It sparked a heated confrontation with a woman who eventually recorded her.
The footage was then reposted on Instagram by Kayokane, and went on to rack up over 10K views. The video captures the moment the angry woman confronts another woman defecating, with only the open car door to shield her from view.
In the footage, you can hear the person filming say, “This woman right here is sh*tting outside.” The offender first smiles at the camera and then says in concern, “No, don’t say that.” Then things get incredibly uncomfortable, and the camera person walks around her and berates her as she tries to finish up. The local berates the defecator, yelling, “You’re sh*tting outside. Are you serious? This is disgraceful. Look at this. How n*sty can you be?”
Please note, the video isn’t a comfortable watch, so click on the link at your own risk. As the confrontation escalates, the video captures the driver handing the defecator tissues. The defecator quickly cleans up, putting some of the tissues on the floor of the car and then gets into the car. At that point, the camerawoman yells, “Pick that sh*t up. Pick your sh*t up from in front of my house.” She asks someone to call the police and then says, “There’s kids here.”
An argument for public bathrooms
At one point, the woman who relieved herself tries to argue back. She even opens the door and tries to grab the filmer’s phone, causing the filmer to say, “Don’t you touch my phone. You n*sty behind thing.” She reiterates, “These kids play out here every day.” At that point, you can hear other distressed voices that sound like a group of kids, and one keeps saying, “It’s fine, It’s fine.”
The filmer keeps berating the women in the car, and even demands that the defecator pick up after herself. Eventually, the driver comes out and apologizes, stating, “Yes. I’m sorry. Okay? I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Then the footage catches her trying to pick up after her companion.
In the caption of the post, KayoKane noted that even after being confronted, the defecator didn’t stop. He wrote, “Public spaces are where families walk, kids play, and residents live their everyday lives. Nobody should have to step around human waste in the street.”
He also noted another important consideration, “At the same time, this shows a bigger problem: our cities need more public bathrooms, more mental health outreach, more help for people in crisis, and more accountability when people disrespect the neighborhood. We can’t normalize this. Our communities deserve better.”
The video has ignited a flurry of reactions. One user commented, “Her friend picked up after her. That’s love. she wins the best Friend award.” Others were more sympathetic, with one user writing, “She probably was told no public restroom available and had to go. I would be bothered too but I’m not recording. She probably has a medical condition or couldn’t hold it. If she did it in your yard then that’s a problem. Give ppl grace.”
Many other viewers were less forgiving. One person argued, “Girl she couldnt go to a mcdonalds or something? Like i get you have to go but noo freaking way in front of a building complex?” One TikToker recently went viral for admitting that she had an accident in a store and wiped her hand on the display.
The incident highlights a broader, ongoing struggle with public restroom access in the United States. According to an article by Throne Labs, finding a clean, stocked public restroom can be a major challenge, as most agencies do not prioritize them as a public good. The U.S. currently ranks 31 on the World Public Toilet Index, with only 8 toilets per 100,000 people. This is a sharp decline from the 1970s, when there were roughly 50,000 pay toilets across the country.
There can also be severe legal consequences for public urination or defecation. This can range from minor misdemeanors to jail time depending on the jurisdiction. The legal team at Luftman, Heck & Associates noted that such convictions can also have other long-term impacts on employment, education, and immigration status. In a high-profile case last year, a Pennsylvania woman got into severe legal trouble for allegedly defecating on a car in a road rage moment.
Since there aren’t any details in Kayokane’s post, we have no clue what the legal consequences of this incident were. Irrespective, the conversation it triggered showed a clear frustration and concern over public hygiene and the lack of accessible public facilities.
