A woman who posts on TikTok as Tina&Co said in a video that she found her Uber Eats order sitting inside her house. On-screen text in the video reads, “surely this is a major safety violation??” She tagged Uber and Uber Eats UK in the caption of the TikTok video and said she wanted to show viewers what she was seeing.
Tina said she had quickly grabbed her phone because she could not believe it. She stated, “My Uber Eats man has entered my house. Has entered my house.” She added that she felt a little bit violated and that she did not like it at all. She said she felt scared and that she was home alone with the baby.
She said the small white bag was her Uber Eats order from about an hour earlier. She pointed it out next to the larger bags she identified as charity shop clothes. She said there had been no update on the app, no messages, and no phone calls. She stated the food felt cold.
Tina said the driver opened her front door and left the order in the hallway
Tina said the driver had entered her house and left the bag in her hallway while she was upstairs. She said she was either changing the bed sheets or in the shower. She added that she guessed she was in the shower because she did not hear a knock or any cars.
She said the driver did not ring her, send text messages, or update the app to say they were coming. She stated, “They have opened my door and left this in my hallway.” She said she does not live in a house with a front porch and that they had walked into her house and set the bag down.
Tina said she felt really uneasy. She added that she was thankful they left the food and that she got her order, but that there were other ways to handle it. She said they could have phoned her, texted her, or updated the app.
She said her partner, Cameron, was in Belfast and that it was just her and the baby. She asked what she was supposed to do about it and whether she was blowing it out of proportion. She said she knew they did not mean any harm, but added that they could have. She stated she would be double and triple-locking everything from then on.
Uber commented on the video: “Hi Tina, this is completely unacceptable and we are so sorry this happened. Thank you for reporting this and connecting with us. Our Safety team is investigating and will take appropriate action.”
The video had gained about 621,000 views, 28,200 likes, and more than 1,500 comments. Some viewers focused on the unlocked door. One commenter wrote, “Why are we not locking our doors especially if we’re home alone with a baby going in the shower.” The debate over delivery boundaries continues, as when a DoorDash driver filmed a customer and laughed.
Another commenter wrote, “Why would you leave your door unlock when upstairs.” A further comment asked, “why would he even CHECK the door to see if it was unlocked??” The concern about home security while alone with a baby is a recurring theme, as another incident involved a delivery person entering a home.
Other viewers questioned the reaction itself. One wrote, “Literally opened the door and popped it on the mat he didn’t need to enter the house at all, this is a huge overreaction.” Another commented, “”lock your door” “why didn’t you check your door?” WHY DID THE DELIVERY PERSON EVEN ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE DOOR IN THE FIRST PLACE?!”
