Donald Trump’s transportation secretary once made a shocking remark about a Gen Z star’s breasts. Now it’s coming to haunt him

His wife sat right beside him

A video from 2024 has resurfaced online and sparked renewed ridicule aimed at Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy over comments he made about actress Sydney Sweeney while sitting alongside his wife, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy.

According to HuffPost, the exchange originally aired on the couple’s podcast and television program, From the Kitchen Table: The Duffys. During the discussion, Duffy made a series of remarks about Sweeney, including, “Sydney Sweeney’s boobs make us want to reproduce.” He also joked, “Sydney Sweeney’s boobs are gonna save America.”

The resurfaced clip quickly attracted attention online, with social media users mocking Duffy over the remarks and questioning the decision to discuss Sweeney in such terms on a show featuring his wife.

Duffy told his wife Sweeney is a reminder that men are still men

Campos-Duffy was the first to ask her husband to comment on the actress’s breasts, the clip showed. Duffy then said, “I think Sydney Sweeney is just a reminder that men are still men.” “I’m sorry, we are,” Duffy said as his wife laughed. He added, “And women are still women and that’s OK!” The remark has drawn renewed attention to Duffy’s role in the administration, with his appointment itself once questioned on Fox News.

In that same 2024 conversation, Duffy said, “If we’re honest, men appreciate women, and men that appreciate women are not toxic. God made us a certain way to appreciate and want to mate with a woman, and women are made the same way to want to be with a man.” These comments reflect a broader debate about respect for women in the GOP, as seen when Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed Trump for demeaning women.

Duffy recently faced more mockery after claiming his daughter would be at risk of becoming “perverted and contorted” if she attended Harvard University.

Sweeney, now 28, was reported last year to be a registered Republican, a detail that generated significant discussion given her growing profile and the political attention surrounding her.

She was also dubbed a “MAGA Barbie” by some commentators following backlash over a controversial American Eagle advertising campaign. Critics online argued that aspects of the campaign promoted eugenics, while others rejected that interpretation and defended the actress and the brand.

The controversy surrounding the campaign also drew support from prominent conservatives, including President Donald Trump, who publicly defended Sweeney amid the backlash.

The resurfaced Duffy clip has now added another layer to the online conversation surrounding Sweeney, with users revisiting the Transportation Secretary’s comments more than two years after they were originally broadcast.

Once the Sweeney remarks resurfaced, users online immediately mocked him and pointed back to those Harvard comments. One person wrote, “You reduced an accomplished actress to her breasts on a national platform.  Are those the values you teach your sons and daughters? A woman has only as much value as her breasts allow a man’s imagination to run? Is that why you didn’t want your daughter at Harvard?”

Another commented, “There was a time, not long ago, when a Cabinet Secretary speaking like this would be an absolute scandal. But in this Administration, the fish rots from the head.”
