President Donald Trump addressed long-standing rumors about his hair on Wednesday, using a specific weather event from a 2024 campaign rally to dismiss claims that he wears a wig, as reported by The Hill. He shared his perspective during a speech at the White House Rose Garden dinner, where he reflected on the intensity of the winds he encountered while supporting Sen. Bernie Moreno in Ohio.
The president recalled the campaign event in Vandalia, Ohio, in 2024, describing it as having “the worst weather I think I’ve ever experienced outside of maybe a hurricane we had in Florida one time.” The conditions on that “wind-whipped airfield” were so severe that even the teleprompters blew off the stage as he approached the podium, an Associated Press report says.
He pointed to this moment as definitive proof regarding his hair. “I went up to the speaker, and it was blowing so hard,” he said. “You know, for years, I had to suffer with people saying, ‘He wears a wig.’” He emphasized that if the hair were not his own, it certainly would not have stayed in place during such a powerful storm. “I don’t wear a wig. But that night, they found out I did not wear a wig because if you did, it was not going to be on your head very long,” he added.
These comments arrive after recent remarks from comedian Rosie O’Donnell
While filling in as a host for Jimmy Kimmel on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in August, O’Donnell suggested that the president’s hair was a wig. She even included a line in a song during the broadcast stating, “Your wig’s a mess.” O’Donnell also referenced White House aide Natalie Harp during her segment, telling the president it was time to let her tuck him in.
This is not the first time the president has had to defend the authenticity of his hair in a public forum. He has maintained that his hair is real since his first term in office.
During a campaign rally in 2015, he directly challenged those who questioned him on the topic. He pulled on his hair at that event and told the crowd, “I don’t wear a toupee; it’s my hair, I swear.” He even invited a woman onto the stage during that 2015 rally to touch his hair, and she confirmed his statement to the audience.
