Florida woman bars boyfriend from touching GTA 6 after learning the game forces you to do a certain set of activities

When you enter Vice City, you have to deal with some vices.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is gearing up for a November release window, and it is easily one of the most anticipated titles in recent memory. While most of the gaming world is busy theorizing about the map or planning their first sessions, some partners are already drawing a hard line in the sand regarding the game content.

The discussion kicked off in a big way thanks to a TikTok posted by Shelby Haas, a creator based in Florida, as reported by BroBible. In a video that has racked up 5 million views, she made her stance very clear. She said, “In absolutely no human way is my fiancé playing GTA 6 after I just saw that you literally have to maintain a relationship with a girl in the video game and text her, and she’ll get mad if you don’t text her back and you have to take her on dates and you can have [sex] with her.”

Haas also pointed to the inclusion of strip clubs and a nudist community as major points of contention. She specifically took issue with portions of the game where the objective involves the characters engaging in sexual activity. Her final message to her audience was direct, as she stated, “Don’t let your boyfriend or fiancé or husband play GTA 6.”

The reaction to her video was split right down the middle

Plenty of people in the comment section found the humor in the situation, while others pushed back hard. One commenter joked, “My GTA 6 girlfriend wouldn’t treat me like this,” while another noted, “Ladies, if your man thinks cartoon women are hot there’s a bigger issue at hand.” Someone else pointed out that for fans of other simulation titles, these mechanics are nothing new, writing, “As a Sims player with Wicked Whims this is light work.”

Not everyone was laughing, though. Some users were frustrated by the attempt to control a partner over a piece of entertainment. One person wrote, “ITS A F—— GAME BRO,” while another added, “Y’all need help. I’ts NOT REAL! Let him play!”

This tension isn’t limited to TikTok, as it is hitting other social media sites too. A gamer recently turned to Reddit to share his own struggle, explaining that his girlfriend threatened to end their relationship if he played the upcoming title.

The Reddit user mentioned, “My girlfriend is hell bent on me NOT playing this game claiming it’s sleazy and promotes crime and sex,” adding, “While she is not wrong I tried to explain to her those are aspects of the game but it also has tons of other stuff to do in a game that’s been in development for years. Nothing seems to be getting through and I’m not able to convince her that GTA isn’t a fetish game.”

The advice from the r/advice community was pretty blunt. One user suggested that the gamer needed to prioritize his relationship, noting that his partner had set a boundary and he had to choose whether to respect it or cross it.

Others were more critical of the ultimatum, with one person writing, “Sorry, if your girlfriend is saying she’ll leave you over a video game you’ve got worse issues man. If you’ve explained things to her and she’s still not getting it that’s kinda a her thing. Having your own hobbies and interests is totally fine just as if she had things she liked that you didn’t it would be fair for her to enjoy.”

Another commenter simply suggested that “if she’s that insecure over a game then run.”
