Storm Will Play An ‘Integral Part’ In X-Men: Days Of Future Past According To Halle Berry

With this year’s The Wolverine acting as a cinematic interlude for Fox’s X-Men, it seems as though the studio is pushing to reinstate the franchise as a global hit. X-Men: Days of Future Past is the follow-up to 2011's critically acclaimed X-Men: First Class and looks to mould the mutant newcomers – namely James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender – with the series’ stalwarts, including the weather-controlling Storm who, according to Halle Berry, will play an important role in the sequel.

With this year’s The Wolverine acting as a cinematic interlude for Fox’s X-Men, it seems as though the studio is pushing to reinstate the franchise as a global hit. X-Men: Days of Future Past is the follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed X-Men: First Class and looks to mould the mutant newcomers – namely James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender – with the series’ stalwarts, including the weather-controlling Storm who, according to Halle Berry, will play an important role in the sequel.

Speaking to the BBC, Halle Berry had this to say about reprising her role,

“Storm probably won’t be as badass as she was going to be because we won’t be able to do any fighting or flying or things like that. She’ll be different than we originally planned her to be but I still think she’ll be an integral part of this new X-Men movie.”

Given that the film will most likely orbit around McAvoy’s Professor Xavier and his time-traversing adventures, news that Berry’s screen time will be limited shouldn’t be too surprising. After all, the former Bond girl recently announced that she is expecting a baby and won’t partake in many stunts – mind you, Storm is volatile enough as it is without having to exert much physical effort.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will see the return of McAvoy, Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence and will tell the popular comic book story wherein the group travel through time in order to prevent a global threat to man and mutant kind. The film will be primarily set in the 1970’s with time-travel as a core plot device. Returning X-men director Bryan Singer – who replaced Matthew Vaughn last year – has a plethora of acting talent at his beckoning call, including Sir Ian McKellan, Sir Patrick Stewart and Peter Dinklage, with the latter signed on to play an as-yet-unknown villain.

Up to now, the film has been cloaked in so much secrecy that even Cerebro is having trouble pinning plot details down. Nevertheless, X-Men: Days of Future Past boasts the best cast list the series has ever seen, and if Singer’s film handles continuity issues and respects the beloved 70’s generation of X-Men, then fans can readily expect a thrilling and entertaining ride when the film is released on July 18th, 2014.
