Due to the very successful fourth season that aired earlier this year on Netflix, a fifth season of Arrested Development is already in the works. According to Variety, producer Brian Grazer has revealed that negotiations are currently underway with the main cast.
He wouldn’t say much else on the matter but at the very least, we know that the wait for more of one of television’s best shows won’t be a long one. Sure, it may be a year or two but compared to the eight year wait that took place between season three and four, this wait should be an easy one.
Though a small piece of news, I’m happy to hear it as this means that there indeed will be a fifth season. Up until now, the status of the show was a bit up in the air. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings hasn’t given anything in the way of official confirmation and neither has creator Mitchell Hurwitz. Plus, there’s still rumors of a movie happening sometime soon. It looks like for now, at least, the movie is not going forward and instead, we’ll be getting another season to spend with our favorite, wacky characters.
As a huge fan of the show, this is obviously very pleasing news and having really enjoyed the recent fourth season, which definitely gets better on repeat viewings, I cannot wait to see what they’ll come up with for season five.
