Watch Dogs Live App Lets Canadian Players Run Around Their City And Hack Each Other

Oh my gosh - this is why I needed a real life hacking suit, Ubisoft! To play Watch Dogs Live! Now I'm going to have to wear a Slipknot t-shirt and a pair Converse. If you haven't heard about Watch Dogs Live, it's an app for iOS and Android that lets you roam the streets of Canada and out-hack your IRL buddies. I'm not sure I can phrase it any better than Ubi themselves, so check out this description from the recent press release.

Oh my gosh – this is why I needed a real life hacking suit, Ubisoft! To play Watch Dogs Live! Now I’m going to have to wear a Slipknot t-shirt and a pair of Converse. If you haven’t heard about Watch Dogs Live, it’s an app for iOS and Android that lets you roam the streets of Canada and out-hack your IRL buddies. I’m not sure I can phrase it any better than Ubi themselves, so check out this description from the recent press release.

Watch Dogs Live gives players the opportunity to become Canada’s ultimate hacker. Using geo-location, Watch Dogs Live players are able to move through their own Canadian city where they compete to gain control of vulnerable sites. As players gain experience and level up to outwit other hackers, they are given access to more sites to climb the leaderboard. Additionally, there are four special missions where group hacking unleashes events in the real world, allowing players to experience a real-life Watch Dogs inspired scenario prior to the game’s release.

This sounds epic on paper, but for some reason I feel like I’ll be flailing through the streets not accomplishing anything. I’m sure some players are more skilled than me, though – in fact, there’s already proof. Check out the video below to see what has apparently already gone down in Canada’s underground hacking network.

This whole thing kind of scares me, and I don’t even live in Canada. Maybe Ubisoft will consider a U.S. version? Honestly, if they commit to that then I’ll totally make my own spy suit and never complain about not getting one again. If you’re in an area within reach of the fun, definitely head on over to the App Store or Google Play and take Watch Dogs Live for a spin.
