Mark Wahlberg Says That Greed Is Holding Up The Entourage Movie

Fans have been waiting for years now to see an Entourage movie. Ever since HBO’s popular show ended its run in 2011, plans for a film have been tossed around quite frequently. In fact, earlier this year Warner Bros. gave creator Doug Ellin the green light to go ahead with the project.

Unfortunately, contract negotiations got in the way and it seems that those problems continue to persist, according to producer Mark Wahlberg.

TMZ caught up with the actor and asked him when we could expect to see the film. Check out what he had to say below:

“As soon as them guys stop being so greedy. If the movie’s a success, we’ll get to make a lot more of them and then we’ll probably make a lot of money.”

Though Wahlberg didn’t mention any specific names, the show’s star, Adrien Grenier, took to Instagram to respond to the comment (which was likely calling him out), posting a photo (seen below) with the following statement.

“I take my role as Vince on the show and off very seriously. All decisions I make personally and for business are for the principle of friendship and brotherhood. It has, and never will be about the money for me. I promise.” Grenier stresses later that he “will sign any deal that gives ALL the boys an opportunity to share in the upside of success EQUALLY.”

From what we’ve heard so far, only Jeremy Piven and Kevin Connolly have officially signed on, so there’s still Grenier, Kevin Dillon and Jerry Ferrara who are in contract negotiations.

This actually surprises me quite a bit. Entourage is pretty popular and has a very strong fanbase, it’s strange how Grenier, Dillon and Ferrara still haven’t been able to close a deal. You’d think that they would be eager to return to the show that launched their careers.

Plus, it’s not like any of those guys are really doing much these days. Aside from popping up in the odd film role here and there, the cast of Entourage has been keeping pretty quiet, which makes it even weirder that they’re holding out for a better contract.

Whatever may be going on behind the scenes, I hope it’s resolved soon. I’m a huge fan of Entourage and will be very dissapointed if Warner Bros. decides to scrap the project altogether, which they may very well do at this point.
