Billed as the film that is going to “out-Roland Emmerich Roland Emmerich,” Brad Peyton’s San Andreas is gearing up for production and today we have our first look at star Dwayne Johnson in his role. The photo arrives via the actor’s Instagram account and was accompanied by the following caption:

Puttin’ in a lot of hard ass work and proud to play my next role… Los Angeles Fire Department Air Squadron Rescue. Shooting starts in 4 weeks. Biggest earthquake of all time hits… SAN ANDREAS. #FirstInLastOut

Johnson is set to take on the role of a “special ops firefighter” who must battle an earthquake in California in order to rescue his daughter (Alexandra Daddario). Carla Gugino is also set to appear in the film, playing Johnson’s wife.

As for the photo (which can be seen above), it doesn’t really give us much to go on. Like usual though, The Rock looks like a towering hulk ready to take on any opponent, even Mother Nature herself. Given his ability to inject any film he’s in with an immediate sense of excitement and intensity, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what he can do with his own, brand new blockbuster.

San Andreas will open on June 5th, 2015, right smack in the middle of what is looking to be the busiest box office season in, well, ever. With Johnson in the lead role and epic destruction on the cards, expect this one to go over very well with summer audiences.
