Daredevilthe first in a batch of Marvel series coming to Netflix in 2015, is getting ready to start production, which means we should be receiving casting news very shortly. A couple of weeks ago we heard that showrunner Drew Goddard was looking at Dexter star Michael C. Hall to fill the titular role, which prompted a wave of excitement from the actor’s rabid fanbase.

While it’s certainly possible that Goddard and Marvel are interested in casting Hall as Matt Murdock, the actor himself has denied the initial rumors. When speaking to Vulture, he said that he hasn’t been approached yet, but likes the idea:

“I’ve heard them, but I think that’s all they are — rumors. Don’t misunderstand, I would definitely consider it … but I can’t tell you any inside information, because I think they’re nothing but rumors… I really am enjoying mixing it up a little bit, and I’m committing to things that have a foreseeable end in sight when I start them. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of [a new series] happening at some point. But I’d have to read the script!”

After eight seasons of Dexter, which followed five seasons of Six Feet Under, it makes sense that Hall wouldn’t be too keen on starring in another TV series just yet. You’ve also got to take into account the fact that Daredevil will be appearing in the Defenders Netflix show as well, with the possibility of transitioning to the big screen somewhere down the line. When it comes to Marvel, a “foreseeable end in sight” really isn’t their modus operandi.

With that said, it’s nice to hear that Hall would “definitely” consider the role if it was offered to him. His age is obviously a factor – as some would claim that the 43 year-old may be too old for the part – but as anyone who’s seen him play Dexter can attest, he’d be a great Matt Murdock and has quite a bit of experience playing dark and complex characters.

Tell us, would you like to see Michael C. Hall star in Daredevil?
