UPDATE: An extended trailer has also been released, and can be viewed at the bottom of this post.

The Arrow season finale aired on Wednesday night, and with it came our first glimpse of The Flash in all his super-speeding glory. The spinoff series stars Grant Gustin as the scarlet speedster and has just been picked up by the CW for the 2014-2015 season.

The blink-or-you’ll-miss-it promo features more of Green Arrow than the Flash, but still showcases an exciting look at how the character’s super speed will be achieved in live action. CGI has come a long way since the corny slow-motion effects that sometimes plagued Smallville, and this teaser proves it. We also get a great glimpse of how Gustin looks in costume, as well as a bit of the personality he’ll be bringing to the part. Barry Allen acts as a fun contrast to the moody Oliver Queen, and seeing a bit of their dynamic is both intriguing and exciting.

Check out the promo for The Flash, as well as a new synopsis, below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
