As we stand on the precipice of a new season of great and hotly-anticipated television, AMC has unveiled key art for the fifth season of The Walking Dead.
Tethered with the morally ambiguous tagline “Hunt or be Hunted,” the poster positions series protagonist and all-round apocalyptic beard ambassador Rick Grimes clutching onto his trusty revolver in the middle of a woodland area.
Without delving too deeply into spoiler territory, the last we seen of our ragtag group of heroes they were en route to a potential safe zone known only as Terminus. In terms of the show’s creative spine, though, it’s understood that Scott Gimple will also return to oversee production as showrunner and that the fifth season will be split into two eight-episode stints.
Following up on the initial trailer for this forthcoming season — which was showcased during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con — AMC’s president Charlie Collier outlined the ambition of The Walking Dead Season 5 ahead of its return on October 12th.
“In the zombie apocalypse, event television is alive and well, and I am proud to acknowledge that this uniquely talented writing staff, production team and cast have once again raised the bar (and the crossbow).”
The Walking Dead Season 5 is slated to shuffle its reanimated corpse back onto the small screen with the “No Sanctuary” episode on October 12th, 2014.
