Looks like 007 may be the next lucky guy to stand under Rihanna’s umbrella (ella ella). The acclaimed chanteuse has reportedly been approached about possibly taking on a role in the still untitled Bond 24, which will see Daniel Craig once again take up the mantle of the iconic spy.

For now, Rihanna’s link to the upcoming franchise entry is tenuous at best, seeing as a British tabloid called The Sunday Mirror first reported the news. According to the publication, producers have approached the singer about a cameo appearance. An unnamed source added that Rihanna was thrilled about the prospect, stating:

“Rihanna is a big fan of the Bond films and has always loved the idea of appearing in one. She didn’t even need to think about it, she knows she wants to do it. She’s really excited.”

We’ll keep our own excitement contained for now, both because The Sunday Mirror is far from reputable and because Rihanna’s last “acting” gig was this gargantuan lump of trash. The previous Bond Girl rumors, indicating that Oscar winner Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona) and/or Blue is the Warmest Color breakout Lea Seydoux had been cast, were significantly more promising.

For now, we still know very little about Bond 24Skyfall helmer Sam Mendes is back in the director’s chair for this new installment, and some connections to that acclaimed entry are expected. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade rewrote the script, originally by Skyfall scribe John Logan. Additionally, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw (playing the new M, Moneypenny and Q, respectively) will join Craig in the new outing, and Roger Deakins’ shoes will be filled by Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.

Mendes is reportedly looking for a physically intimidating villain (Chiwetel Ejiofor’s name has been tossed around for the role of the main antagonist) and an iconic henchman on par with Jaws, and more news on both those fronts should be coming soon.

Bond 24 will roll cameras in December. Hopefully, we’ll know a little more about its cast and title by that point.
