With little over a month to go until Far Cry 4 releases, Ubisoft has unveiled the first chapter in an all-new mini series that introduces the various Himalayan regions from the game’s fictional setting, Kyrat.
First up, the studio has compiled a travel diary of sorts for the Lowlands area, a lush region of the in-game world riddled with lumbering rhinoceroses and no-nonsense mercenaries. Going by the narration in the above video, it seems as though this locale will be one of the first territories that players will be introduced to come November.
For the uuninitiated, Far Cry 4 will place you into the shoes of one Ajay Ghale, a Kyrat native who returns to his hometown to find it overrun by Pagan Min — a self-appointed wannabe king who wishes to make Ghale his most honoured guest. You see, as it happens, Min has history with our protagonist’s long-lost mother, which means there’s no love lost between Ghale and the self-obsessed kleptomaniac.
Based on the feedback from the game’s well-received predecessor, Far Cry 3, the fourth numerical entry into the open-world franchise has been said to provide users with a greater sense of player agency. Forget bifurcating narrative paths, Ubisoft intends to make each playthrough unique through the use of emergent gameplay.
So, whether it’s a random encounter that you happen to stumble upon or a pissed off elephant rampaging through a small village, it’s been said that no two playthroughs will be the same.
