At this stage, it’s safe to say that DriveClub has had a bumpy ride coming out of the gates. Having launched a little over a week ago, Evolution Studios’ PlayStation-exclusive title has been plagued with server woes that have rendered the game practically unplayable for many.

Taking to the title’s official Facebook page, the company has offered new information on the status of DriveClub, all the while providing an update on the scaled-back PlayStation Plus version — which slipped from October’s IGC to ease traffic on the game’s servers.

“More servers and new upgrades are still coming online hour-by-hour, so we expect improvements to server connectivity and reliability for everyone. We will be bringing Face-offs back into play soon. We are working hard to get the PS Plus Edition of DriveClub out as soon as possible and hope to update you on this soon.”

Initially, the free edition of the ultra-realistic racing sim was scheduled to launch alongside the full game last week, but Evolution decided to postpone the PS Plus edition as it pprioritizedthe ongoing server issues.

As the post suggests, several of DriveClub’s online features were also disabled in an attempt to alleviate some of the aforementioned problems, though it seems in-game modes including Face-offs will be available sooner rather than later.

Earlier this week, we learned that the game’s latest update — version 1.04 — was made available on Thursday, October 16th; one which served to address the extensive waiting times that players have experienced trying to join an online match.

By this stage, it seems Evolution Studios’ DriveClub will join the likes of SimCity, Diablo 3 and Battlefield 4 in the category of turbulent video game launches. However, to appease those affected, it’s understood that the company is considering offering some form of compensation to early adopters.

We’ll keep you up to date with all of the announcements for the PlayStation-exclusive racer as they appear, so stay tuned.
