Promising “hours of new gameplay,” the DLC is said to be priced at $9.99 on its own or, for those players who picked up the game’s season pass, the add-on will be a part of the $25 package. Monolith went on to say that Lord of the Hunt will be released before the year’s end, and introduces a host of new beasts to mount — not to mention the vomit-spewing Wretched Graug.

New-fangled monstrosities aren’t the only new additions, however, as the content pack will continue the story of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and, in particular, follow Torvin and protagonist Tailon as they continue to push back against the nefarious Sauron and his hoard of hulking Warchiefs.

In an interview with IGN, the studio’s design director, Michael de Plater spoke briefly about the newcomers, stating that players can expect a considerable challenge once Lord of the Hunt becomes available later this year.

“Every Warchief has a unique ability that changes how he fights and provides a new challenge. There’s a big difference between trying to chase down an enemy mounted on a Caragor and facing a Warchief mounted on a Wretched Graug or one who is leading a Ghul force.”

Rounding off the expansion are a new set of runes, a challenge-based mode called Test of the Wild, and an all-new character skin that will transform Talion into the ultimate Beastmaster. You know, providing he doesn’t have his face melted by a marauding Wretched Graug.

We’ll have much more on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and the Lord of the Hunt expansion as it is released. Until then, you can let us know if you’ll be picking up the game’s maiden DLC in the comments.
