In light of creator-star Lena Dunham’s most recent scandal, involving a misconstrued excerpt from her memoir, the return of her defining character could be just what she needs to steer the focus back to her creative self. The show inevitably played a massive part in raising her social profile, and it’s looking like there’ll be plenty more spin-off debates surrounding the content of the show’s impending fourth season.

The brief, 90-second trailer catches us up on Hannah’s big move from New York City to Iowa, where she’s beginning a new educational program. Leaving the lure of New York’s debauchery behind looks like a task for the budding scribe, who’s not in the country for a minute before she’s dancing in a vat of blue gunk at a party. The location might have changed, but the game has remained the same.

Girls season four premieres on HBO, Sunday January 11th at 9pm, followed by Togetherness at 9.30pm. Will you be tuning in?

Created by and starring Lena Dunham (“Tiny Furniture”), the show is a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their mid-20s. Dunham wrote and directed the pilot of the series, which she executive produces with Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner.  The cast also includes Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky, Andrew Rannells and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.  Shot in New York, the 10-episode fourth season premieres in 2015.
