From the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Peacock Network: Thor actress Jaimie Alexander is finally stepping up into the spotlight, as the lead in NBC pilot Blindspot.
An action-thriller in the vein of The Bourne Identity and Memento, the series will focus on a beautiful “Jane Doe” who finds herself at the center of an FBI investigation when she awakens inside a duffel bag in the middle of Times Square in New York City with no idea who she is or what the tattoos covering her body signify. Using clues found on her body, FBI agents begin to piece together a larger conspiracy.
Mark Pellington (The Mothman Files) is set to direct the pilot episode, working from a script by Martin Gero (Stargate: Atlantis).
Blindspot certainly sounds like an intriguing star vehicle for Alexander, who has been looking for a way to establish herself as a leading actress for some time and was one of the most heavily courted female actresses during pilot season this year. Luckily for Marvel fans, she is already contracted to return as Lady Sif for Thor: Ragnarok as well as appear on an episode of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this spring, so Blindspot doesn’t mean an end to her comic-book heroine.
Regardless of whether the pilot is ordered to series, chances are we’ll be seeing a lot of Alexander in the near future. Also on the docket for her: HBO comedy The Brink, crime-thriller London Fields, erotic thriller Broken Vows and provocative TV movie Open, about human sexuality in the modern era.
