It’s been a long time coming, but Slightly Mad Studios’ Kickstarer-funded racer Project Cars is finally nearing the finish line, when it will release across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at some point in May. And as the developer puts the final sheen of polish on the über-realistic racer, a blog post has been published detailing the minimum and recommended specs to run the title on PC.

Per Slightly Mad Studios:

Minimum spec:

CPU: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400, 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II X4 940
Graphics: nVidia GTX 260, ATI Radeon HD 5770
Memory: 4Gb RAM, 1Gb VRAM

Recommended spec:

CPU: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 3700, 4.0 GHz AMD FX-8350
Graphics: nVidia GT600 series, AMD Radeon HD7000 series
Memory: 8Gb RAM, 2Gb VRAM

Sticking with PC for the meantime, it’s also understood that this version of Project Cars will support up to 12k resolution, though in order to do so users will require some of the most bleeding-edge hardware on the market. On the other hand, framerate will be locked at 60 frames-per-second on PC and PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One iteration will be capped at 900p. Not much is known about the Wii U version at this time, though Slightly Mad assured fans that it plans on releasing an update regarding Nintendo’s home console promptly.

One tidbit that will affect all platforms regardless is the game’s lack of split-screen, with the company confirming that the co-op mode was cut “in order to achieve the target of 60 frames per second.” It’s disappointing, of course, given that racing titles are one of the few genres that appeal to couch co-op play, but we’re hoping that the remaining content within Project Cars makes up for its absence.
