Masters Of Sex Season 3 Trailers Explore The Sexual Revolution

Showtime has been steadily catching up with HBO in terms of its original programming, and one of the premium network's greatest weapons is its steamy and stylish period drama Masters of Sex. Showtime has been steadily catching up with HBO in terms of its original programming, and one of the premium network’s greatest weapons is its steamy and stylish period drama Masters of Sex. The third season of the series, which stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as William Masters and Virginia Johnson, two of the pioneering researchers into the field of human sexuality, is coming back to Showtime this summer, and the network has unveiled two trailers that catch us up with the characters.

The major takeaway here is that Libby (Caitlin FitzGerald) seems to be taking more of a central role in the new season, which will find her husband (Masters) and Johnson taking their research on the road in 1966, as the world around them explodes into the sexual revolution. The playful tone of the skin-heavy series is kept intact here, and with new characters played by the likes of Josh Charles, Tate Donovan, Maggie Grace, Frances Fisher, Michael O’Keefe and Isabelle Fuhrman (that last one playing Virginia’s now-teenage daughter) in the mix (along with Allison Janney and Beau Bridges, both highlights from the show’s past season), there’s no reason Masters of Sex can’t hit the ground running when it returns.

Masters of Sex returns to Showtime July 12. Check out one trailer above, another below, and new key art for the series.
