One quick glance at the 2016 calendar will tell you that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is primed to sate our appetite for a titanic comic book clash in little under a year’s time. However, Supes tussle with The Caped Crusader is by no means the only showdown that will chew up the scenery, with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark locking horns for Marvel’s much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War.
It’s a rivalry that has been long on the cards for fans for the MCU, and it’s within the Russo brothers’ upcoming threequel – essentially acting as Avengers 2.5 – that will see the intense discord bubble to the surface following a superhero legislation enforced by the government.

‘Whose side are you on’ appears to the best possible tagline for Marvel to pursue, and we’ll no doubt be hearing it over and over right up until the film’s debut. That said, the Herculean showdown between Rogers and Stark is by no means the only story thread lurking in Captain America: Civil War, as the studio plans to introduce fans to both Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and its new-fangled, younger Spider-Man. No word yet on who will don the superhero guise as our friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler, though the most recent reports have shortened the list down to Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland and four others.
