Scarlet Witch, Iron Man And A Regular Sized Ant-Man Feature In Latest Set Photos For Captain America: Civil War

Another day, another slew of behind-the-scenes photos to pick through. With yesterday serving up a barrage of stills for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, today sees the pendulum swing back in Marvel's favor and, specifically, Captain America: Civil War. We've already see the First Avenger engage in fisticuffs with Frank Grillo's Crossbones but this latest selection turns the attention to some of the film's supporting characters: Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch.

It appears as though the production is still located in an African marketplace, which will presumably stand in for an area near – or indeed within – Black Panther’s Wakanda. Reports suggest it is here that a global incident forces the world’s elite into action over the superheroes, before rolling out a divisive registration act that essentially seeds the titular battle, headed up on each side by Captain America himself and Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Civil War is a story held highly amongst Marvel’s core fanbase, and considering that it is bridging the gap between Age of Ultron and the climactic, two-part Infinity War, there’s certainly a lot riding on Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming movie. It’s certainly got a casting list that’s up to the task, with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Sherlock‘s Martin Freeman rounding out the dizzying ensemble.

Captain America: Civil War will kickoff Marvel’s Phase Three in earnest when it lands in theaters on May 6, 2016. For now, let us know your early impressions of these photos using the comments below.
