It’s already been revealed that Gotham‘s second season will feature the origin story of the Joker, and now the future Clown Prince of Crime has been spotted on set. Shameless actor Cameron Monaghan played a circus kid named Jerome in season one, and he’s returning in season two to continue his transformation into the famous Batman nemesis.

The new set pics show Monaghan in a prison jumpsuit/straight jacket, seemingly escaping or hijacking a school bus. Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon doesn’t appear to be far behind, though the bloody face implies that he doesn’t make it out unscathed.

You can check out the photos, which also feature a new glimpse at Erin Richards’ Barbara Kean (the future Mrs. James Gordon), in the gallery above. Monaghan also released his own tease for his return via Instagram, which you can check out at the bottom of this post.

Gotham will be back for its second season on September 21st, 2015 on Fox.
