The end is almost upon us, dear friends.
In order to drum up excitement for the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, AMC has debuted the latest trailer for the companion series, which illustrates the chaos that can ensue when the lights go down in Los Angeles.
Shifting the flesh-munching action to the west coast, the network’s new take on the zombie apocalypse brings us back to the very beginning, to a time when patient zero is yet to unleash havoc on the sun-kissed streets of California.
Filling the shoes of the two nominal leads are Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis, who play Madison and Travis, respectively, two divorced parents who must pull together when the pillars of society begin to crumble and survival becomes paramount. Elizabeth Rodriguez and Lorenzo James Henrie will also star in the new-fangled series, with Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Ruben Blades and Mercedes Mason rounding out the ensemble.
Perhaps the one facet that will get fans really excited is the possibility of a crossover with AMC’s flagship The Walking Dead series. When you factor in that Rick Grimes’ coma last between four-to-five weeks, and that Fear the Walking Dead‘s maiden season will take place over the first three weeks of the outbreak, a crossover event will likely be shelved until season 2 – if such a blending of universes is to happen in the first place.
Expect Fear the Walking Dead to premiere on Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT with an extended 90-minute episode. To gain an overview of the storyline, be sure to check out the official synopsis below.
