Marvel At The Creation Of Ultron In New Featurette For Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Amid the cacophony of visual effects and bombastic action in Avengers: Age of Ultron, one of the more impressive feats was rendering a realistic and indeed formidable version of the title big bad to lock horns with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Part and parcel of that achievement comes down to the gravitas of James Spader and his dulcet tones, but as today's new featurette reveals, there was also a chunk of CG-intensive work to do before the power-mongering AI could walk onto the screen as a compelling villain.

Releasing in anticipation of the sequel’s Blu-Ray launch at the beginning of October, the clip gives fans a little insight into the creative process within Age of Ultron. Here, we get a peak behind the scenes of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff – played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, respectively – interacting with Spader when he is suited up in the mo-cap gear and suspending their disbelief in the process. Here’s the logline from Marvel ahead of the Blu-Ray release.

Watch the cast and crew discuss filming the nefarious Ultron (James Spader) and introducing the Maximoff twins in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” coming to 3D Digital and Digital HD on September 8 and to 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital SD and VOD on October 2!

Today’s featurette and much more will be bundled in with the Age of Ultron Blu-Ray release, also including a handful of deleted scenes and a gag reel. Marvel is primed to drop Avengers: Age of Ultron across Blu-Ray and DVD on October 2 – just don’t hold your breath for Joss Whedon’s director’s cut.
