Following the news that Gotham had cast Mr. Freeze and Hugo Strange, it’s now been confirmed that a Nora Fries (the wife of the former) has also been found for the hit Fox series. She’ll be played by Kristen Hager (Masters of Sex), and Fox teases her role in the series by saying the following:

“Thanks to her smarts, sincerity and a lighthearted sensibility, she’s the only person who’s managed to connect with the otherwise emotionally cold cryogenicist.”

Gotham‘s take on this important character to the Batman mythos (it’s while Victor Fries is struggling to find a cure for his terminally ill wife that he’s transformed into Mr. Freeze) is described as follows:

“As her condition worsens and her husband becomes more desperate to save her life, Nora must make the ultimate choice: play the willing participant in Victor’s mad plan or sacrifice herself to stop the monster inside of him.”

Worryingly, it seems like Mr. Freeze is yet another Batman villain who will be transformed years before Bruce Wayne decides to become the Dark Knight. Still, it should be very interesting to see how Gotham handles the characters, and you have to believe that it will be better than what’s come before. After all, the last time Freeze was seen in live-action, he was being played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Batman and Robin.
