Being a show that utilizes time-travel, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow has the luxury of taking its characters pretty much anywhere and any time it chooses – and it just so happens it chooses to take the team back to the Old West to meet none other than legendary bounty hunter, Jonah Hex.

Hex is a former Civil War soldier turned mercenary with a hideously scarred face, who has become something of a cult DC Comics favorite over the years. He was previously played by Josh Brolin in a disastrous 2010 movie, but now another actor will get the chance to put his stamp on the character when he makes his small-screen debut.

Here’s what Legends Of Tomorrow EP Marc Guggenheim had to say to EW about the decision to utilize Hex:

Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West. But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.

We don’t know who has been cast in the role just yet, but he is expected to make his debut in episode 11, and may recur after that.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on January 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
