Daredevil Season 2 Fight Scene Will Top Season 1

Anyone who's seen season 1 of Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil surely remembers the extraordinary hallway fight sequence. It was one of the show's many, many highlights and a damn impressive technical achievement. Now, we're hearing that season 2 is going to feature a fight scene that's set to top the one from last year.

Anyone who’s seen season 1 of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil surely remembers the extraordinary hallway fight sequence (seen in the video above). It was one of the show’s many, many highlights and a damn impressive technical achievement. Now, we’re hearing that season 2 is going to feature a fight scene that’s set to top the one from last year.

It’s a bold claim, no doubt, but at the TCA Winter Press Tour, star Charlie Cox seemed pretty confident about it:

“In terms of this season, there are a number of really good fights. There is one in particular that I’m really excited about because it’s kind of like an homage to that scene, but it’s almost like that scene on crack.”

So, yeah. Imagine the fight scene from season 1, but on crack. Pretty nuts, right? We can only imagine what the showrunners have cooked up for us with the sophomore outing.

Cox’s co-star, Jon Bernthal, also spoke at the TCA Winter Press Tour, and commented on why the stakes are going to be raised this time around:

“I think once you introduce a character like Frank Castle, once you introduce a character like Elektra, the stakes are raised a little bit in terms of the fighting, all of the sudden you’re talking about weapons. Different questions are being brought up. I think what is the genius of Phil Silvera, the fight coordinator and stunt coordinator who choreographs these fights, is the fights are all character-driven and the fights tell a story. It’s not just to look pretty or to look cool.”

As fantastic as season 1 of Daredevil was, from everything we’ve been hearing, it certainly sounds like the second outing will top it. Due to Elektra and The Punisher’s involvement alone it should be clear that Marvel and Netflix are going bigger and darker here, and now with these comments from Bernthal and Cox, we know to expect some jaw-dropping fight sequences, too.

March 18th can’t come soon enough.
