Berlin Film Festival is yet to get going in earnest, though Variety brings word that Oculus breakout Brenton Thwaites has been tapped for Office Uprising.

Placing director Steven C. Miller behind the lens, it’s understood The Exchange will begin shopping the project during next week’s festival – one billed as a genre mash-up that blends comedy with flesh-munching zombie action. Thwaites headlines the actioner as a slacker for an arms manufacturing company, bored to the brink of tears with his mundane routine.

That’s all about to change, though. As part of a new regime to revitalize its workforce, said company slyly slips a substance into the office coffee that transforms its legions of corporate drones into crazed homicidal maniacs. As one of the few survivors left stranded in the cavernous compound, Thwaites’ lead is left to salvage what’s left of the company. Ian Shorr and Peter Gamble are penning the script, and The Exchange’s Brian O’Shea commented on the casting of Thwaites in Office Uprising: “We are truly excited to have cast Brenton. [He’s] a sensational, versatile young leading man who will hit the comedic notes and sell the action.”

Before fending off the undead in Office Uprising, Brenton Thwaites will be part of the ensemble cast headlining sword and sandals and controversial epic Gods of Egypt, before starring opposite Johnny Depp in blockbuster sequel, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
