First Trailer For Ricky Gervais’ Office Movie Has David Brent Explore Life On The Road

At the heart of the series was Gervais’ wonderfully sarcastic David Brent, who is primed to headline his own feature film later this year with Life on the Road. Picking up a full 15 years after the events of the acclaimed, but ultimately short-lived British mockumentary, the snippet introduces us to a Brent that has changed fairly dramatically since his days spent at Wernham Hogg Paper Company – but in reality, he’s none the wiser.

Written and directed by Gervais himself, the official logline reveals that:

“David Brent is now a rep selling cleaning products up and down the country. The thing is he has never really given up the dream of being a rock star, and in this documentary movie we follow his one last shot at fame. We find out what he’s been up to since his days at Wernham Hogg and we follow him on the road trying to get a record deal. He puts a band together (a group of mercenary session musicians taking his money with absolutely no love for him or his dream) and ropes poor Dom (a rapper who he was meant to be managing) into coming on tour with him to give him a bit of credibility.

Ricky Gervais will introduce us to Life on the Road when it makes its debut in UK cinemas come August 19. No word yet on when the actor’s comedy feature will make the jump across the pond, but we’ll keep you updated as more information comes to light.
