Sophie Turner Talks Sansa’s Big Moment From Last Night’s Game Of Thrones

Sansa Stark has been portrayed as a victim right from the very first episode of Game of Thrones. A beautiful, naive, not terribly bright young girl was never going to have an easy time of it out in the big bad world of Westeros, but it got to the point that audiences were almost screaming at the screen for the endlessly put-upon character to show some of that Stark moxie and find a way to strike back against her tormentors.

Of those tormentors, Ramsay Snow was undoubtedly the worst. Joffrey obviously treated Sansa deplorably (after all, he beheaded her father right in front of her), but the bastard of Bolton was responsible for the most directly wicked assaults on Sansa, both physically and mentally. Fans have been hoping to see the villain get his comeuppance, and at the end of last night’s episode, it was Sansa that served the final helping of poetic justice when she fed her hated husband to his own dogs.

In a recent interview with EW, here’s what actress Sophie Turner had to say about the gruesome, but oh so satisfying scene.

“I really loved the idea of the Battle of the Bastards. And I was loving the idea of Jon killing Ramsay. But then I was like, no, Sansa needs her first kill and it has to be Ramsay. No one else but her. And when [Jon] basically says, ‘He’s yours.’ I’m like, ‘Yes!’ She leaves him for dead, walks away doesn’t even watch him die. It’s such a great scene, so well written, and it’s so great to be able to have my first kill.”

Some felt it went against character for Sansa to come across so bloodthirsty, but after everything Ramsay had put her and her family through, I think she acted as anyone would have in that situation.

Is this a new Sansa Stark? Or will she regain some of her positivity now that she’s vanquished that darkness from her life? Tune in to the Game of Thrones season finale this Sunday to find out.
