Man successfully scans face for Global Entry and TSA PreCheck. Then he is stopped: ‘We could tackle you’

“I still haven’t been given a reason”

Navigating airport security is usually a standard procedure for frequent travelers. However, for Marcell Frazier, a routine trip just turned into a confusing and frustrating ordeal. Frazier, who goes by federalfrazier on Instagram, shared a video documenting his experience at US Customs at the Vancouver International Airport. The footage, which has already racked up over 1.3 million views in just one day, captured a tense exchange between Frazier and a TSA officer.

Frazier explained that he has been part of the Global Entry and TSA PreCheck programs for nearly a decade. According to the caption of his post, he scanned his face for Global Entry and was cleared by the machine. However, as he walked forward, he was allegedly stopped.

Frazier claimed, “I was stopped and told “you know we could tackle you right now” for trying to walk through. They proceeded to flag all my bags for search, and physically took my Global Entry card. Told me I wasn’t going to get on my flight. I was not told clearly once what I was in violation of. Immediately had my Global Entry and TSA Pre Check revoked.”

Revocations without provided reasons

In his video, the camera is pointed at the desk. However, it captured a short sound bite from the moment Frazier questioned the officer about his status. Frazier asked, “And then what? So my process is gone, it’s done.” The officer seemed to reply, “And then you don’t have Global Entry.”

When Frazier pushed back, noting that he had just been renewed for the program, the officer stated, “You don’t have it no more.” Frazier then asked, “So because you physically took it or is this United States or is this Canada?” The officer confirmed it was the United States. However, soon after, they noticed that Frazier was recording and demanded he put his phone down.

Frazier provided updates and more detail in the comments section of his post. He wrote, alleging, “my Global Entry was approved and extended on August 13th. It was immediately revoked following this incident on August 19th following my reentry at US Customs coming from Cairo via London. The reason given was ” Applicant does not meet the strict requirements of the trusted traveler program”. Very vague.”

Interestingly, his alleged experience aligns with a long-noted broader trend of increasing revocations for Trusted Traveler Programs like Global Entry and TSA PreCheck that are meant to speed up processes at the airport. According to a Bloomberg article from the end of 2025, there has been a surge in membership removals since the start of 2024. Some cases, like that of Chris Krebs, even raised speculation of revocations as a method of retribution.

Data obtained by Bloomberg News via a public records request showed that CBP revoked 17,281 Global Entry memberships in 2024, a 47% jump over the previous year. Per Bloomberg, a common theme with the revocations was a lack of transparency. The outlet noted that a 2023 Government Accountability Office report found that a modification to the notification procedure in 2018 “inadvertently removed” the explanation for revocation from the letter template.

As such, per the outlet, many travelers were reportedly left in the dark. One passenger mentioned was Lawrence Ellis, a consultant who lost his membership in March of 2025. He told Bloomberg, “I didn’t know exactly why it was revoked. I didn’t realize it could happen like that with really no rhyme or reason. To this day I still haven’t been given a reason.” On Instagram, Frazier’s viewers took to the comments section to share their own frustrations and advice.

One user noted, “Just so everyone is aware for your own knowledge, TSA agents and officers cannot revoke your global entry or TSA pre-on the spot that requires additional administrative review and they have to submit why they want to revoked based on whatever violations they feel that you you did they can, however, flag you for additional screening and things like that at the airport or point of entry, but they do not have the authority to revoke it so that person was lying to you.”

Others shared similar stories of confusion. One user wrote, “Mine was revoked/non-renewed last year. Same reason they gave you: none. I’ve never had an immigration violation anywhere in the world, nor have I ever been arrested for anything. I sent a FOIA request to CBP almost a year ago and so far they’ve just ignored it. Very frustrating.”

Frazier is fighting the decision. He noted in the comments, “I contacted the Trusted Travelers program to challenge my Global Entry card being revoked, reapplied separately for TSA Pre check, and filed a Civil Rights and Liberties complaint through DHS. I am at the discretion of the US Federal government since they run all these agencies.”
