As a concept for a TV series, Ten Days In The Valley has been shopped around U.S networks for some months now, with Demi Moore attached to the lead role. Moore recently dropped out of the project though and has been replaced by award-winning actress Kyra Sedgwick – and now ABC has snapped the project up with a straight-to-series order.
Heading into production in 2017, Ten Days In The Valley will comprise 10 hour-long episodes, that will centre on busy television producer and single mother Jane Sadler (Sedgwick). Jane is in the middle of separating from her husband when her young daughter goes missing in the dead of night. As the drama unfolds, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems, and the mystery simply deepens every time she tries to get to the bottom of it.
Speaking to the press about her new role, Kyra Sedgwick confirmed her excitement for the project.
“Playing Jane Sadler is exactly the deep and emotionally charged role I was searching for in a series. I look forward to working with the team at Skydance, who have continuously created exceptional film and TV projects. We are all very excited that ‘Ten Days in the Valley’ has found its home on ABC.”
The show will mark the first lead role on television for Sedgwick since The Closer ended its seven season run in 2012. In that show, the actress proved herself to be a compelling central figure – delivering high emotion, and deft humour as necessary. While the premise of Ten Days In The Valley does not lend itself so much to material that might generate laughs, it is certain that Kyra Sedgwick will deliver the drama with aplomb.
