The producer opens his remix with a strummed chord progression and reversed vocal ambience, setting the mood before Tove Lo’s recognizable hooks join the mix. Sparse drum hits craft a head nodding rhythm that builds up to an energetic peak before dropping into a future bass section with fluttering synth chords, cavernous beats and sampled melodies.

Illenium had his work cut out for him when he opted to cut a new arrangement for Flume’s Tove Lo collab, but he delivers a solid re-imagining of the song. Where the original version featured Flume’s characteristic crackle and grit weaved into its bright melodies, the new rework delivers a cleaner mix with pristine production values and organic instrumentation.

The new “Say It” flip comes just a few days after audio samples for each track off the upcoming Skin Companion EP started circulating the internet, building even more anticipation for the follow up release to one of the biggest dance music album’s of the year.
