We’ve been hearing about the new director (Jason O’Mara) for quite some time now, and he’ll finally make his debut on tomorrow night’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., “Meet The New Boss.” Fans have been speculating about the identity of this chap ever since it was confirmed that he’d be an established Marvel Comics character, and this new sneak peek provides the biggest hint we’ve had thus far: his first name.

In the clip, Agents Coulson and May pay a visit to their new boss to discuss how they can improve S.H.I.E.L.D.’s public image, and Coulson refers to him as Jeffrey. Now, that may not seem like much, but given what we already know about this guy (O’Mara previously revealed that his roots went all the way back to the ’40s, and he had a “very manly name”), there’s a pretty good chance he’ll turn out to be Jeffrey Mace, AKA The Patriot.

Mace was a WWII-era reporter who took inspiration from Captain America and suited up as The Patriot to combat the Nazis. He even donned the mantle of the Sentinel of Liberty himself for a time. However, if O’Mara is indeed playing a small-screen incarnation of this character, we can probably expect some big changes, so it’s not very likely viewers will see him in any kind of costume.

At any rate, we’re bound to find out much more when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with a brand new episode tomorrow night on ABC.
