Westworld Trailer Previews The Weeks Ahead, Freshman Drama Enjoys Biggest HBO Premiere Since True Detective

Turns out we weren’t the only ones to fall under the spell of HBO’s Westworld series – official figures published by Variety have confirmed that the freshman drama became the network’s biggest debut since the inaugural season of True Detective with 3.3 million viewers. Not bad for the ‘new Game of Thrones,’ even if those ratings aren’t on the same level as HBO’s fantasy flagship.

Even still, it’s early days. Thanks to the network’s decision to pump the brakes mid-way through production, series showrunners and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy – along with J.J. Abrams – were afforded ample time to flesh out the show’s complex, thought-provoking narrative. It’s a narrative that could span up to five seasons in total, according to early estimates, which really makes those aforementioned ratings all the more crucial.

But the show must go on. Following Sunday’s premiere of “The Original,” HBO is prepping viewers for a further nine episodes in Westworld‘s gripping first season that will begin with the arrival of “The Chestnut” on October 9. Curious as to what the weeks ahead entail? Feast your eyes on the preview above, where you’ll discover that the line between the artificial past and warped future isn’t as secure as Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) would have you believe. There are also fresh looks at what lies in store for Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Teddy (James Marsden) and The Man in Black, played here by Ed Harris.

Westworld continues apace with the premiere of “Chestnut” on October 9. Tell us, were you one of the early adopters to contribute to those impressive ratings? Let us know by commenting below!
