Beth Grant is the latest star bound for the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.

Already in active production over at Starz, Grant joins the long-awaited series as Jack, the owner of Jack’s Crocodile Bar. It’s a fairly significant role, too, given that her character will host Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) as he comes into contact with Mr. Wednesday, the ancient deity played here by Ian McShane (Deadwood, Game of Thrones). E! Online’s report indicates that the actress will appear in two of the 10 commissioned episodes.

Grant’s casting also marks another collaboration between her and American Gods co-creator Bryan Fuller, after the pair worked together on Mockingbird Lane, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies.

Per Twitter:

Pitched as an amalgamation of  “Clash Of The Titans meets The Grifters,” American Gods is really Shadow’s story, who seeks counsel from Wednesday following the abrupt death of his nearest and dearest. He’s then introduced to a raging war between the old gods and the new, and we understand that Michael Green and Fuller will be taking point as showrunners after penning the pilot episode.

American Gods descends onto the small screen early next year when Gillian Anderson, Emily Browning, Yetide Badaki, Cloris Leachman, Ian McShane, Pablo Schreiber, Peter Stormare, Crispin Glover and Orlando Jones will be rounding out Starz’s roster of deities old and new.

Expect the adaptation to premiere via Starz in the States, while those across the pond can look forward to the long-anticipated adaptation to arrive via Amazon Prime.
