It opens up entirely new ways to play, with the reveal video touting both the system’s form factor and the impressive third-party support, something that clipped the wings of the Wii U early on. However that may be, there are plenty of questions still to be answered, with fans clamouring to clock eyes on the hardware’s fine print – price, system specifications, you name it.

According to a new report, though, it’ll be some time yet before Nintendo locks down firm details for the Switch, with Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki claiming that the Big N won’t reveal any further details regarding launch library, region-locking and more until 2017.

That’s a little disconcerting, but it seems Nintendo will playing its cards fairly close to the vest until the turn of the year. What we do know is that the Switch is powered by a custom Tegra processor made by Nvidia, allowing for crisp gaming experiences at home and on the go. Those detachable controllers are known as “Joy-Cons,” with the Big N noting that “one player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options.”

In related news, though it featured heavily in the reveal video, Bethesda is yet to confirm whether Skyrim will be released for Nintendo’s new system. A spokesperson for the developer told GamesIndustry.biz that “while we’re not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future.”

Nintendo Switch is pegged for release in March of 2017.
