Stranger Things To Take Cues From Game Of Thrones For Security

When it comes to keeping a lid on things, few do it better than Game of Thrones. Over the years, HBO's hit fantasy series has delivered one shocking moment after another and each and every time, they leave audiences stunned (even those who've read the source material). Just how does the show keep such a tight lid on everything though? With such a rabid fanbase, spoilers are bound to leak out ahead of time, right?

Well, yes and no. Sure, not everything has been kept an absolute secret on Game of Thrones, but for the most part, HBO does a damn good job keeping the plot under wraps and it seems that Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy wants some tips. While talking to Entertainment Weekly, he mentioned that him and his team consulted with the producers on Game of Thrones to learn how to tighten up their security as they head into season 2 of the hit Netflix series.

“We had no security protocols last season and we have extensive security protocols this season,” Levy said. “I can’t speak about what they are because then people could crack them. We protect every story point, every page of every script.”

Co-creator Ross Duffer followed up Levy’s statement, saying that he’s being extra careful this year:

“I just knew I used to throw my sides away and now they have to be burnt.”

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, also weighed in on the new security measures, saying:

“Now we have a code name [for the show]. And now I have a code name! It’s this weird thing. On the call sheets our names are across it and if we lose it, we’re dead.”

Though we have started to hear a little bit about what’s in store for us with Stranger Things season 2, it’s clear there are a lot of surprises yet to be spoiled. Not only that, but if Levy is looking to Game of Thrones for tips on security, you can bet that some pretty shocking stuff will be going down when the show returns. Just don’t expect to find out about any of it beforehand though, as now that the team is cracking down on plot leaks, it doesn’t sound like any of the juicy details will be making their way online in advance of season 2’s October premiere.

And honestly, we’re perfectly alright with that. We’ll take our next dose of Stranger Things completely unspoiled, thank you very much
